NICL golf: BCLUW girls, Grundy boys claim West titles
REINBECK – BCLUW's Lauren Anderson shot a 92 to lead the Comet girls golf team to the team title at the NICL West meet at Oak Leaf Country Club in Reinbeck on Monday, May 7.
BCLUW finished with a 406 team score, 17 strokes better than runner-up Grundy Center. West Marshall was third with a 428. AGWSR finished sixth overall with a 489 and Gladbrook-Reinbeck scored 514 for seventh.
Anderson's low round was nine strokes better than runner-up Tylyn Eicher of East Marshall. Comet teammate Madison Trinkle was third with a 102 and Bailey Ashton finished ninth with a 105. Lili Wilson was 10th with a 107 and Mackenzie Trinkle and Katie Garber contributed a 116 and 117, respectively.
Bangasser, Freeman lead conference champion Spartans
GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy Center boys golf team had four individuals in the top ten overall as the Spartans won the NICL West boys meet at Town & Country Golf Course in Grundy Center on Monday, May 7.
The Spartans scored a 346, 23 strokes better than runner-up BCLUW. AGWSR was third with a team score of 392 and Gladbrook-Reinbeck finished in a tie for fourth place with 398 strokes.
Jake Bangasser was the individual conference medalist with an 81, followed by teammate Nolan Freeman in second with an 82. Tanner Appel and Andy Cox were eighth and ninth place overall with a 91 and 92, respectively. Matthew Sternhagen contributed a 94 and Travis Kuester shot 97 for the Spartans.
D-NH's Weber repeats as NICL East medalist
WATERLOO – Dike-New Hartford's Morgan Weber shot a 77 to win her second NICL East conference championship at the NICL East girls golf meet at South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo on Monday, May 7.
D-NH finished third as a team with a 422 team score in the 18-hole tournament, trailing champions Waterloo Columbus (373) and Sumner-Fredericksburg (387).
Wolverine boys finish 4th in NICL East
LA PORTE CITY – The Dike-New Hartford boys golf team finished fourth in the team standings at the NICL East boys golf meet at La Porte City Golf Course on Monday, May 7.
The Wolverines finished with a 341 team score, one shot short of Waterloo Columbus and Aplington-Parkersburg. Denver won the team title with a 335.
A-P's Dylan Ellis finished with a 2-under-par 68, repeating as conference medalist.
The Wolverines were led by Colton Harberts with an 81 and Bo Weissenfluh's 84, with both finishing in the top ten overall.
