STORY CITY – The Dike-New Hartford baseball team's season came to an end on Tuesday evening in a 3-1 loss to Aplington-Parkersburg, a Class 2A district semifinal at Roland-Story High School in Story City.

A-P advanced to Saturday's district final against South Hamilton at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The Falcons scored a run in each of the first two innings, beginning with Carter Cuvelier's sacrifice fly to left field scoring Coby Hoff in the first inning. Riley Oberhauser followed that with a sacrifice bunt in the second inning, bringing Aaron Price home from third.

Those two runs laid a good foundation for Cuvelier as he started the game on the mound for A-P. He finished with seven strikeouts and three walks, scattering three hits in the complete-game pitching victory.

D-NH loses just one senior from Tuesday's starting lineup in Chase Wilson. The group finished with a 22-11 overall record just weeks after winning the NICL East conference championship for a third-consecutive season.
