Adame pleads not guilty, trial set for April

The man who stands accused of killing Michael Johns and leaving his body in a ditch in 2017 has formally pled not guilty to First Degree Murder charges, and his trial is tentatively set to begin on April 30.
           
Twenty-seven year old Armando Adame III of Waterloo accepted a written arraignment on Monday but did not physically appear in the Floyd County courtroom, consulting with his public defenders, Nellie O’Mara and Parker Thirnbeck of Mason City, for several hours. Judge Colleen Weiland has been appointed to preside over the case.
           
A pretrial conference is set for April 15 at 9:00 a.m., and a jury trial will commence on April 30 barring any motions for continuance. Adame faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility parole if convicted.
