Adame murder trial delayed in Floyd County

The man who stands accused of killing Michael Johns in 2017 will not face a jury until a later date after a motion for the continuance of his trial was granted on April 12.
           
Armando Adame III, age 28, of Waterloo, has been charged with First Degree Murder in the death of the Grundy Center man, who was found in rural Floyd County on December 1, 2017. Johns had been missing for over a month and was last seen with Adame and another individual on October 25 at a convenience store in the Butler/Floyd County area. After a 13-month investigation, Adame was arrested and formally charged on January 29, 2019.
           
According to court records, a judge granted public defender Nellie O’Mara’s request for an extension to take depositions and file motions, and a trial will be scheduled following a trial setting conference with counsel and the court administration. No date has been finalized at press time, and Adame last made an appearance on April 22.
