GCHS Class of 2019 celebrates commencement

 
GRUNDY CENTER – Family, friends and community members packed into the Grundy Center High School gymnasium on Sunday afternoon to celebrate the graduation of the GCHS Class of 2019.
 
The ceremony began with a welcome from the Class of 2019 President, Reegan Zinkula, who gave a speech titled “The ABC’s of Life."
 
“To say our class is unique is an understatement,” she said. “We have a togetherness that no other class has; we drop everything to support each other no matter what. Together we’ve achieved so much over these past years, but we still have work to do. We can’t stop striving, because there will be more challenges when we leave these halls. That’s why we must remember our ABC’s: A, accept new challenges; B, believe in yourself; and C convert dreams into action.”
 
After Zinkula’s speech, special music was played by the GCHS band, and Principal Michael Vokes announced awards for the Class of 2019.
 
GCHS Girl of the Year was Reegan Zinkula, and GCHS Boy of the Year was Caleb Kuiper. The GCHS Class of 2019 Salutatorian was Erika Johnson and the Valedictorians were Sydney Matthews, Hailey Wallis and Josie Holke-Farnam.
