Supervisors approve conservation board change to promote gender diversity

In response to a letter from Beaman Mayor and Grundy County Conservation Board member Ann Smith, the board of supervisors reversed the appointment of Kent Nederhoff to the conservation board and replaced him with his daughter, Shelbi Nederhoff, during Monday morning’s regular meeting.
           
Prior to the appointment, the board was comprised of four men (Dallas Koch, Paul Cooley, Jim Mutch and Jim Loger) and one woman (Smith). Nederhoff had been appointed to replace Koch, but his daughter will fill the slot instead to bring the overall gender balance to three men and two women.
