Creativity for Change opens doors for young artists

A portal has opened in downtown Grundy Center; a door leading to a different dimension, where mutant science experiments gone wrong live out their days on Mars, seeking vengeance against humanity for exiling them to the harsh planet.
 
But there is no mortal danger facing locals - this is just the storyline behind Grundy Center’s newest piece of public art; a mural painted on the side of the H&R Block building on 7th Street.
 
The mural, and the story, were created by a group of artistic, young minds who are a part of the Creativity for Change program sponsored by the Kling Memorial Library.
 
Over the course of this summer, around a dozen local kids from 7th to 12th grade took part in the Creativity for Change program, where they were tasked with creating public art in town and using it to tell a story.
