Tuesday's girls basketball roundup: Comets sideline ice-cold Rebels
REINBECK – The BCLUW girls basketball team took advantage of a tough shooting night for Gladbrook-Reinbeck in a 45-23 Comets victory at Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School on Tuesday, Dec. 17 in NICL West action.
Madison Ubben got a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, leading BCLUW (5-3, 1-2 NICL West) in both categories. Betula Messerly added 10 points and Chloe Walters scored nine points with five rebounds.
BCLUW outscored the Rebels (1-6, 1-3) by a 24-6 margin in the second half.
DIKE-NEW HARTFORD 56, JESUP 33: On a bit of a lighter night for shooting, Dike-New Hartford girls basketball team stayed a step ahead of Jesup with frequent trips to the free-throw line in an NICL East win at Dike-New Hartford High School on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
The Wolverines made 16 of 23 free-throw attempts. Ellie Foster led D-NH (5-1, 5-0 NICL East) with 19 points, adding four rebounds. Katie Knock had 15 points and Ellary Knock scored four points with eight rebounds.
AGWSR 45, EAST MARSHALL 35: Alyssa Hames scored 19 points in the Cougars' NICL West victory at AGWSR High School in Ackley on Tuesday.
Rachel Sicard added 11 points and Grace Finger scored eight points for the Cougars, improving to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the West.
