Girls basketball roundup: Top-ranked D-NH wins again
D-NH 57, SUMNER-FRED. 39: Katie Knock scored 19 points to lead the top-ranked (3A) Wolverines to victory in Dike on Thursday.
Ellie Foster contributed 13 points and Morgan Weber scored eight points with 12 rebounds.
D-NH led 37-11 at halftime and went up 57-22 after three quarters before taking the foot off the gas in the fourth quarter, where the Cougars scored 17 points to get the deficit under 20 points.
D-NH had 15 team steals; Katie Knock and Ellary Knock swiped four steals each.
GRUNDY CENTER 62, EAST MARSHALL 36: The Spartans had plenty of offense to go around in a big win against the Mustangs on Thursday night in Le Grand.
Paiton Wallis led a trio of Spartans in double figures with 19 points. Leslie Homeister added 13 points and Bailey Reding scored 11 points. Reding added a team-high 12 rebounds; Lainy Thoren scored seven points with nine rebounds and five assists.
Grundy Center launched onto East Marshall from the start, leading 24-11 after the first quarter. The Mustangs closed within 30-26 at halftime, but Grundy Center closed out the second half outscoring East Marshall 30-10.
The Spartans' 16 turnovers kept East Marshall in the game, but Grundy dominated the boards by a 48-19 margin, including 20 offensive rebounds.
WEST MARSHALL 52, GLADBROOK-REINBECK 20: The Rebels lost a fourth-consecutive game, struggling against the Trojans in Reinbeck on Thursday.
Emma McClintock led the Rebels with seven points, Saari Kuehl scored four points with nine rebounds.
West Marshall led 24-4 and pushed the lead to 45-14 after three quarters.
