Grundy Center bowlers compete in Tripoli, Pleasant Hill

Grundy Center boys bowling finished January with two more meets in the first season for the sport at Grundy Center.

The Spartans' regular season wrapped at Crystal Bowl with duals against Sumner-Fredericksburg on Monday and Independence on Tuesday. State-qualifying is at Lancer Lanes in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

BONDURANT-FARRAR 2,783, GRUNDY CENTER 2,185: The Bluejays beat Grundy Center on Friday, Jan. 31 at Great Escape in Pleasant Hill.

Chase Appel had the high two-game total in Round 1, rolling a 338 on games of 168 and 170 pins.

Bondurant-Farrar led 1,817-1,433 heading to the Baker games. Blaine Adams had the high series in the dual with a 416 series that included a 226 in game two.

Grundy Center rolled a 197 in game four of the Bakers but averaged 150.4 pins across the five Bakers, compared to a 193.2 pin average for the Bluejays.

Grundy Center (2,185): Chase Appel 168-170=338; Jesse Mackie 164-133=297; Hunter Hawk 150-139=289; Kenny Day 120-135=255; Adam Hoy 110-144=254. Round 1 total: 1,433.

Bakers: 170-122-125-197-138=752.

TRIPOLI 2,502, GRUNDY CENTER 2,319: The Panthers defeated the Spartans at Panther Lanes in Tripoli on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Chase Appel led the Spartans with a 318 series and had the high game for the Spartans with 179 pins in his first game.

The Spartans performed better than the Panthers in the Baker round, but were outscored 1,710-1,504 in Round 1. Caeden Funk had the high series in the match with a 432 two-game total, including a 234 in his second game.

Grundy Center's best Baker game was the last of the day, rolling a 200. The Spartans won the Baker round, 815-792.
