Ralph Meewes

Ralph Meewes, 81, formerly of Marion, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2020, at home.  

 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Carol (Jeanne) Meewes, his sons Bryan (children, Brianna and Evan), Trent (wife Kim and their children Christian and Morgan) and Lonny (wife, Joreka and their children Jordan and Katie). 

 

He was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Lucille Meewes, brother, Lester Meewes, and sister, Patricia (Meewes) Miller.

 

Ralph was born in Hudson, IA, on October 12, 1938. He attended Wartburg College, where he played basketball and baseball, then graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. He worked at Collins Radio as a purchasing manager for 32 years, first in Cedar Rapids, IA then in Melbourne, FL. Ralph was a true family man who found great enjoyment in coaching his sons' little league and youth basketball teams. He retired in 1994 and spent his time playing golf and pinochle, traveling, and watching Florida State football.

 

Ralph was a member of Suntree United Methodist Church, where a funeral service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 10:30 am.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Suntree United Methodist Church in his memory.
