James Kruse
James W. Kruse, 90, joined his Savior January 6, 2021. No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. He resided in Dakota Dunes, SD, formerly of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Sioux City, IA.
Born in Holland, Iowa, June 15, 1930. He served in the US Air Force and was then married to Dolores L. Kelly in Dunedin, FL on June 18, 1950. They resided in Holland, Iowa, until 1969 at which time they relocated to Sioux City, Iowa. He was with Arrow Stage Lines/Allied Tour and Travel over 20 years until his retirement. He enjoyed his family, fishing, singing and was a member of the Abu Bekr Shriners, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, American Legion, Iowa Masonic Landmark Lodge No. 103, Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in Holland, IA and Morningside Reformed Church in Sioux City, IA. He was a member of The Laymen Quartet and The Good News Quartet and dedicated his life singing for the Lord.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Mark (Valorie) Kruse of Dakota Dunes, SD, daughters, Gail Zastrow of Prescott Valley and Dr. Ruthann Kruse of Cave Creek, AZ. Eight loving grandchildren, Dr. Lucas Kruse of Raleigh, NC; Kathryn (Will) Robinson of Broomfield, CO; Dr. Joshua (Kathryn) Kruse of Dakota Dunes, SD, Jason Zastrow of Chico, CA; Dr. Jed (Jenn) Zastrow of Prescott Valley, AZ, Jarod Zastrow of Buena Park, CA; Blaze Meyers of Aspen, CO and Gus Meyers of Ogden, UT, ten great-grandchildren and brother, Norman (Carolyn) Kruse.
Preceded in death by wife, Dolores, second wife, Sharon, son, James L. Kruse, son-in-law, Donald R. Zastrow and great-grand daughter, Elizabeth Kruse, James and Dolores sold their property outside of Sioux City to Camp High Hopes. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made out to Camp High Hopes, c/o Dr. Mark Kruse, 263 La Costa Lane, Dakota Dunes, SD 57049. Committal will be be at a later date at Colfax Center Cemetery, Holland, Iowa.
