Keith E. Carter

Keith E. Carter, 87, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021 at Creekside Inc in Grundy Center.

Following Keith’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no public services held at this time. Keith made sure to tell his son keep everyone safe before having my funeral. The family is planning on holding a celebration of Keith’s life at a later time when everyone can gather safely. Memorial contributions may be directed in Keith’s name to Cedar Valley Hospice care. Keith E. Carter was born on October 24, 1933 in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Carroll F. and Dorothy (Wilt) Carter. He was born and raised and educated in the Ottumwa school district, graduating from Ottumwa High School in the class of 1951. Following his graduation, Keith went on to Drake for one year and graduated from Iowa State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree and continued his post graduate work at the University of Iowa. In 1961, he became a CPA.

Keith honorably served his country from the years 1953-1961 and was enlisted in the United States Air Force. On February 24, 1962, Keith was united in marriage to Mary E. (Morgan) Carter. From this union four children were raised.

Keith had a passion for Iowa State sports, golfing, bowling, fishing, ping-pong and roller-skating. He was a member of the ALCPA-ISCPA- CACPA and Alpha Kappa PS1.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Ruth (Doug) Van Gelder, Mark (Jolene) Carter, Karen (Stan) Blom and William “Billy” (Ann) Carter; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carroll Carter and Dorothy Carter and Mary E Carter.
