COVID-19 vaccine update: Over 1,200 county residents have initiated series
GRUNDY COUNTY- According to information posted on the Iowa Coronavirus website, a total of 1,261 Grundy County residents have at least started their COVID-19 vaccine series, and 282 have completed their two-shot series.
Residents are not required to receive their vaccines in county, and a total of 243,705 Iowa residents have received vaccines thus far (256,096 total doses have been administered). As Grundy County enters Phase 1B of vaccine administration, GCPH Program Coordinator Katie Thornton-Lang is urging patience and reminded residents that not everyone who is part of Phase 1B will be immediately vaccinated.
Grundy County’s 14-day positivity rate of 5.5 percent is one of the lowest in the state, and the county currently sits at a total of 1,244 cases and 28 deaths throughout the pandemic. Grundy Center, with 340, remains the zip code with the highest number of cases in the county, followed by Dike (257), Reinbeck (208), Conrad (124), Wellsburg (108), Holland (46), Beaman (22) and Stout (16).
Per officially released statements, Grundy County Public Health continues to recommend that members of the communities continue to stay home when even mildly ill, cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow/upper arm, wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, follow social distancing recommendations of 6 feet or more, and wear a mask when in public. Grundy County Public Health also hopes that people will help one another to ensure safety in the communities, with a genuine request to do everything they can to stop the spread of COVID-19 as much as possible.
