Dan was born on July 10, 1978 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, to his parents Daniel John Sr. and Linda (Lawrence) Gleissner. When Dan was 2 years old, his family lived a short time in Albion, Michigan, later moving to to Cedar Falls, where he was raised and educated in the Cedar Falls School system; he graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1997. After high school, he attended Iowa Central College in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where he obtained his 2-year Associates Degree.
On October 7, 1999, Dan was united in marriage to Amanda Eickhoff. The couple moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where Dan worked at Sentry Foods, in management. During their time there, they welcomed their first son, Dakota. The family later relocated to the Cedar Falls area and welcomed their second son, Daniel John III. During his working years, Dan also worked as an electrician. In 2009, the family made their home in Reinbeck. That same year, due to health issues, Daniel was no longer able to work, but did keep busy doing some small construction work, and wood working. Daniel enjoyed working with his hands and could always find something to tinker with.
Daniel also had a love for dogs; he enjoyed training them, showed them in dog shows, and just enjoyed having them for their love and companionship. He loved spending time with his two wonderful boys, whether it be watching their sports and many activities, or gaming with them. Dan taught his boys many skills in life; the most important was teaching them how to show respect and treat people with kindness. Dan was also known to ‘get a rise out of people’ and continued to do so and be in good spirits, right up until his passing. Daniel had many long years of health obstacles, but always remained positive. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, beautiful boys, and his many other loved ones he was blessed with.
He is survived by his loving wife Amanda “Mandy” Gleissner of Reinbeck; sons Dakota and Daniel J. III, both at home; father Daniel J. (Tedda) Gleissner Sr. of Owatonna, Minnesota; brother Scott (Stephanie) Gleissner of Carlisle, Iowa and their sons Noah and Ben; aunts Mollie (Erica Pietler) Lawrence, Jane Lawrence and Judy (Fred) Freeman; uncle Jack Karow; father and mother-in-law Bernard and Annelle Eickhoff of Evansdale, Iowa; sister-in-law Erica Boehme of St. Paul, Minn.; his special furry companions Charlie and Otter.
Daniel rejoins in Heaven his mother Linda; maternal & paternal grandparents; aunt Di Karow.
