LuRae Ivan Johnson

GRUNDY CENTER — LuRae Ivan Johnson, age 70, of Wellsburg, died Sept. 2, 2023 at Creekside Living in Grundy Center.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 10 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Redman Funeral & Cremation Services - Parkersburg Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10, also at Redman Funeral & Cremation Services - Parkersburg Funeral Home.

LuRae was born the son of Herbert and Viola (Meester) Johnson on Feb. 12, 1953, on the family farm in rural Wellsburg. He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1972.

After graduation, LuRae’s father purchased a farm for him that was one mile from the homestead. LuRae enjoyed being on the farm, where he raised cattle and grain. LuRae lived at his farm until one year ago when he moved to Creekside Living in Grundy Center.

LuRae enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially deer. He also liked camping and gardening. In his younger years, LuRae enjoyed riding horses. LuRae loved his two dogs, Spike and Heal.

LuRae was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Viola Johnson; and one brother-in-law, Wayne Meister.

He is survived by a daughter, Mariah Johnson of New Hampton; a son, Thad (Paula) Johnson of Charles City; three grandchildren, Allen, Ivan and Trevor; two brothers, LuDean Johnson of Aplington and Vernon (Lynda) Johnson of Wellsburg; a sister, Karen Mitchell of Eldora and many nieces and nephews.
