Donald N. Pierce, 76, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at his home in Grundy Center. Services and interment are private. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.abelsfuneralhomes.com

Don was born on February 7, 1947, to his parents Robert and Evelyn (Weiland) Pierce. He was raised and educated in Petosi, Wisconsin. He moved to Dubuque, Iowa in 1967 and worked at Bacon Veneer until it closed. He then was united in marriage to Virginia Long on February 17, 1968, and they welcomed 4 children into their family. They moved to Grundy Center, Iowa where Don worked for Bacon Veneer until his retirement in 2011.

Don liked to fish in his youth and loved mowing and snow blowing for his neighbors. He also took great pleasure in family holidays with his kids and grandkids.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Virgina Pierce; children David (Lisa) Pierce, Thomas (Diane) Pierce, Jennifer (Wade) Van Devooren, and Elizabeth Pierce (Gary Fairbanks); 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, brothers Ron and Darwin Pierce; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Norbert Pierce.
