Arlon C. Bienfang
Arlon C. Bienfang, age 83, passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2024, surrounded by his sons and grandkids, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on August 8th, 1940, to Mae and Wilford Bienfang, he was preceded in death by his parents, his son Curtis Bienfang, and seven siblings - George, Harold, Kenneth, Wilber, Wanda, Evelyn, and Marcella.
Arlon spent his entire life in Waterloo, where he graduated from Orange High School in 1959. In 1960, he took on the responsibility of the family farm, a legacy passed down from his father. He cherished the land that his father worked so hard for. In 1963, Arlon married Jeannie (Malaise) and they were married for 25 years. They had a family and continued farming for 20+ years together. Arlon wore many hats throughout his life, working as a farmer, school bus driver, and mechanic. He not only provided for his family but also instilled in them the values of hard work, resilience, and the importance of learning practical skills. His love for the land was evident in the way he taught his children to farm, fish, and fix anything that needed fixing. Outside of his work, Arlon had a passion for attending auctions and collected items that he referred to as treasures. Arlon's commitment to his sons was unwavering, and he leaves behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.
He is survived by his sons Brian (Tara) of Tucson, AZ, Brad (Brandi) of Dike, IA, Arlon Jr. (Jean) of Surprise, AZ, Darrin of Waterloo, IA, and daughter Vicki (Tavis) Addison of Lake Villa, IL. Arlon also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The great-grandchildren have brought Arlon much joy and happiness in his later years. Arlon has one remaining brother, Vern Bienfang of Minnesota. His spirit lives on through the memories shared by those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
