Connie R. Barnes

Connie R Barnes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, passed on August 8, 2024, at the age of 68.

A memorial service to celebrate Connie's life will be held at 11 a.m. August 16, 2024, at the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center. There will be time for sharing memories and food immediately following the service.

Connie was born December 17, 1955, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to Robert and Helen Harris. Connie was surrounded by family as she peacefully passed from this world in Waterloo.

She led a fulfilling life, dedicating herself to her career and family. She worked tirelessly for 30 years at N.C.M. as a quality control specialist before continuing her journey at AmericInn until her well-deserved retirement in 2019. She was known for her meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic, leaving a lasting impact on all those she worked with.

Connie moved to Grundy Center in 1975, where she met her soul mate Craig Barnes. They were married in Reinbeck in 1982. She was a woman of many talents and passions. Connie found joy in pursuing her hobbies, particularly her love for genealogy and working on the family tree. She cherished the moments spent traveling on road trips to visit her daughter, Jacy, and her G-Babies, Erik and Alaina. Connie's free spirit and warm personality endeared her to everyone she encountered; to know her was truly to love her.

Survivors include Connie’s devoted husband, Craig Barnes of Grundy Center, her loving children Will (Amanda) Barnes and Jacy (Dustin Smith) Barnes, her dear mother Helen Harris, her brothers Curt Harris of Fountain City, Rick (Jan) Harris of Reinbeck, her sister Cindy (Tom) Cody of Little Cedar and her adored grandchildren Erik and Alaina Barnes. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Harris, and her brother, Randy Joe Harris.

She also leaves behind her faithful companion Bradley, Jacy's dog, and many other relatives and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with Connie. Her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In honoring Connie R Barnes, we remember a remarkable woman whose presence brought light and warmth into the lives of those around her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously gave during her time on earth.
