AGWSR rolls over A-P, Barrick returns to circle (PHOTOS)

PARKERSBURG – Taryan Barrick knew she'd get a chance to pitch again last Friday night.

The wait was agonizing.

"I didn't know when I was going to go in, but I couldn't sit down very well," Barrick said. "Something was always moving."

It's been a long road to recovery for the AGWSR ace who tore her ACL last October, but she finally got her chance in the sixth inning of a game against Aplington-Parkersburg.

Barrick came on in relief for Rachel Sicard and struck out the side to close out a dominant 19-0 victory for the Class 1A No. 6 Cougars.

Not wanting to rush her return, the Cougars waited until they had crossed the 10-run "mercy rule" threshold to put Barrick in. The Cougars got there, and then some, with 11 runs in the sixth inning.

The AGWSR dugout offered their support to the returning senior.

"I thought it was neat how they cheered for her when she got out there," AGWSR co-head coach Scott O'Brien said. "There's a whole different vibe to this team as we try to get some flow and continuity in the roster, but you don't notice it as much with these girls because they roll through it well."
