AGWSR volleyball sweeps Colo-NESCO

ACKLEY – AGWSR volleyball's serving was too much for Colo-NESCO as the Cougars earned a sweep in their home opener at AGWSR High School on Thursday.

AGWSR (1-1) defeated the Royals (1-9), 25-12, 25-14, 25-9.

The Cougars converted 67-of-73 serves with 16 aces. Natalie Gerstein had the sharpest delivery, 17-of-17 with six aces. Taylor Sperfslage was 17-of-18 with four aces and Tessa Sperfslage delivered three aces on 9-of-11 serving. Brynn Smith contributed a pair of aces and Alayna Hunt was 14-of-14 with an ace.

Smith was the top attacker with 13 kills on 25 attempts. MaKenna Kuper added eight kills and Taylor Sperfslage and Alyssa Hames contributed four kills each.

Gerstein and Josie Winterberg had 18 and 12 assists, respectively, out of the dual-setter system.

Colo-NESCO managed just four kills on 37 attempts at cracking AGWSR's defense, committing 12 attack errors.
