DES MOINES – AGWSR sophomore Trey Lashbrook is into the state quarterfinals for the first time after winning in sudden victory against Underwood's Weston Allen on Thursday afternoon during the Class 1A session of the state wrestling tournament at Wells Fargo Arena.

Lashbrook defeated Allen by a 4-2 score. Denver's Jacob Moore will be Lashbrook's quarterfinal opponent in the morning session beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday.

At last Saturday's district tournament in Denver, Lashbrook won a 7-5 decision against Moore. However, in two previous meetings at the state tournament, Moore is 2-0 against Lashbrook, including a win against Lashbrook in the 7th-place match at last year's state tournament.

Allen, a freshman, scored the first takedown of the match, but Lashbrook escaped for a 2-1 deficit after the first period. Lashbrook escaped again out of bottom position in the second period. From there, neither wrestler scored until the sudden victory period, when Lashbrook landed a takedown for the win.
