The former Ankeny man who is currently serving a life sentence in Jasper County for attempting to coerce a minor into sexual activity has been convicted of four aggravated misdemeanors over similar incidents in Grundy County during the summer of 2016.

Jeff Lee Altmayer, age 58, pled guilty to four counts of Attempting to Entice a Minor Under 16, each an aggravated misdemeanor, after he offered money to young girls in exchange for “yard work” at his home, once on June 21 and again on August 2. In Grundy County, he used the pitch at both the Dike City Park and the Dietrick Mobile Home on Highway 20, but none of the victims agreed to enter his vehicle. He was originally charged with three counts of Enticing a Minor Under the Age of 13—Sexual Abuse or Exploitation (a Class C felony) and one count of Enticing a Minor Under the Age of 16—Sexual Purpose (a Class D felony).

Altmayer, who had no criminal record prior to the string of incidents in Grundy, Jasper and Monona Counties, has received a two-year prison sentence, a $625 suspended fine, a DNA requirement and a $250 civil penalty for each of the four counts, and a special 10-year sentence will be added on to his term in Jasper County.

“Looking at the total picture of all the offenses, the disposition was appropriate,” Grundy County Sheriff Rick Penning said. “It clears up several cases for everybody.”
