The Ankeny man charged in connection with a pair of attempted child enticements in the Dike area last summer has entered a written plea of not guilty, and his Grundy County trial is tentatively set for July.

Jeff Lee Altmayer, age 57, who is currently in custody in Jasper County for a separate incident that allegedly occurred in Colfax in August, waived his right to appear in Grundy County District Court for arraignment with the plea, filed on March 31. He faces a total of four felony charges: three counts of Enticing a Minor Under the Age of 13—Sexual Abuse or Exploitation (each a Class C felony) and one count of Enticing a Minor Under the Age of 16—Sexual Purpose (a Class D felony) for two alleged incidents, one at the Dike City Park on June 21 and another at the Dietrick Mobile Home Park between Dike and Cedar Falls on August 2. The Grundy County charges carry a maximum of 35 years in prison.
