Beaman teen involved in fatal crash near Iowa Falls

A Hampton couple has been pronounced dead after a two-vehicle accident involving a teenager from Beaman who allegedly failed to yield at a stop sign near Iowa Falls.
           
A press release has identified 16-year-old Dawson Kitzman as the driver of a pickup truck that collided with 63-year-old Kevin Barz and his wife Julie, 49, at the intersection of Highway 65 and County Road D25 in Hardin County. Mr. and Mrs. Barz, who were not wearing seatbelts, were later pronounced dead.
           
According to the State Patrol’s release, Kitzman and his passengers, Kade Manship of Eldora and Justin Mesch of New Providence, were all wearing seatbelts, and they were transported to the Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls with unknown injuries.
           
At press time, the state patrol had not announced any criminal charges or issued any citations related to the incident.
