Black Dirt Days, Wellsburg Daze kick off this weekend

The western half of the county will be busy this weekend as both Wellsburg and Conrad will kick off their annual town festivals.

Black Dirt Days, celebrating the area’s world famous soil, will begin first in Conrad on Friday, and this year’s theme is “We Will Rock You” in homage to live music as well as the recent resurgence of Queen and the film “Bohemian Rhapsody.” With a brand new kiddie parade, all of the usual inflatable games and pony rides, the truck pull and kiddie tractor pull, fireworks and music from the Buck Hollow Band, it promises to be a fun-filled night.

Wellsburg Daze, which concludes with its famous Tuesday night parade, will kick off on Saturday morning with a 5k fun run at 9:00 a.m. and a tractor ride departing at 8:30 a.m. Along with the t-ball tournament, a brand new BBQ cook-off will begin at 11:00 a.m., and country up and comer Cody Hicks will perform at the street dance on Saturday night.
