Board approves Zenor claim for attorney fees

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy County Board of Supervisors Monday approved a request from Zenor, Inc. for payment of attorney fees following the County’s attempt at condemnation of the property.
County Attorney Kirby Schmidt presented the bill for $14,219.10, and said legally the County is obligated to pay “reasonable attorney fees” after it dropped the condemnation attempt following failed negotiations to purchase the property. Board Chair Harlan Riekena said the County should not be responsible for attorney fees after it rejected a counter-offer (July 30), a difference of approximately $850, something Schmidt said may be reasonable to the attorney.
