Break-in, theft reported at Wellsburg golf course

A thief stole clubs and other items from at least 17 golf carts parked inside of the shed at the Meadowbrook Golf Course in Wellsburg on Monday night, and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

According to Leon Abels, who works at the course, none of the actual carts were stolen (although padlocks were broken), and the theft is believed to have occurred Monday evening because staff members checked the premises both Sunday and Monday morning.

Grundy County Deputy Kirk Dolleslager is leading the investigation, and as of Tuesday morning, Sheriff Rick Penning told The Grundy Register that he had very little information as Dolleslager was still at the course gathering evidence. No suspects have been named.
