City of Wellsburg makes changes to fireworks ordinance

WELLSBURG - With the Fourth of July quickly approaching, those looking to discharge fireworks in the Wellsburg area should be aware of a change in the ordinance for fireworks that is now in effect.
 
According to the City of Wellsburg ordinance on fireworks, users must be 18 years old to discharged consumer fireworks without parental supervision.A person shall only discharge the fireworks on real property they own, or on property where consent has been given.
 
Novelties such as sparklers, caps or snakes can be discharged on a public place as long as all trash, wrappers and wires are properly disposed of.
 
Fireworks shall not be discharged by persons showing visible signs of, or determined to be, intoxicated or under the influence of a drug or narcotic. Anyone discharging a consumer firework assumes all responsibility and consequences thereof, and no person shall discharge a firework in a reckless manner or manner likely to cause death, injury, fire or property damage.
