CJ's Salon celebrates opening in Reinbeck

The phrase “keeping it in the family” takes on a special meaning for the owners of CJ’s Salon in Reinbeck: the mother-daughter-sister operation opened for business on September 1 and held a ribbon cutting with local officials and leaders on Monday afternoon to christen the move into the downtown area.
           
“We’ve all gotten along so well. We’re making memories,” hairstylist Chelsea Taylor said. “And having everybody in our community support us, we’re very blessed.”
           
Taylor and her mom, Joyce Kalkbrenner, will run the show full-time, and her sister Delaney, a seventh-grader at Gladbrook-Reinbeck, will assist as the receptionist in her free time. Kalkbrenner, a Grundy Center native, comes to the gig with 18 years of previous experience running a beauty shop in Missouri, and Taylor, a G-R alum, learned the ropes washing customers’ hair for extra dollars.
