County Supervisors approve 2015 budget

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy County Board of Supervisors approved the County’s Fiscal 2015 budget Monday, capping several weeks of balancing departmental needs against money coming in.
The approved budget includes a tax rate of $8.85432 per $1,000 valuation in rural areas and $5.66244 for urban areas. The rates are up from $8.46802 (rural) and $5.35271 (urban) a year ago.
The budget includes $4.65 million for roads and transportation, $2.08 million for capital projects and $1.93 million for public safety and legal services.
There were no public or written comments about the budget, which passed unanimously on a role call vote.
County Engineer Gary Mauer presented the County’s five-year road construction plan to the Supervisors, noting that the plans for the next two years are likely fairly accurate while changes are entirely possible in years beyond that.
