HUDSON – Dike-New Hartford led a group of four area teams competing at a massive Hudson girls track and field meet on Monday.

The Wolverine girls scored 52 points to place fifth out of 19 teams at the meet. AGWSR placed 10th with 39 points, BCLUW 13th with 30 points and Gladbrook-Reinbeck 18th with six points.

D-NH picked up a victory in the 4x400 relay to close the night and also got a fast time from Taylor Kvale in her win in the 400-meter hurdles. Her time of 1:06.92 is likely to qualify her for the Drake Relays in the event in her freshman season of running with Dike-New Hartford.

"I knew I was sitting on the edge," Kvale said. "I had to come in here and run as lose as I can and try to run my best."

The D-NH girls have performed well in two large meets at Hudson now – a large group of underclassmen athletes are supplementing the experience of seniors Rylee Wessely and Alana Barrett and juniors like Crystal Kennett, Margaret Nielsen and Ashton Syharath.

"We try to do the best we can in all of our events and just work together as a team," Kvale said. "We've got great senior leaders that help push us every day in practice and set a positive mindset for us."
