D-NH volleyball back in 2A title game

CEDAR RAPIDS – The Dike-New Hartford volleyball team will play for the 2A state championship on Friday after a straight-set win over Council Bluffs St. Albert in Thursday's semifinals at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
 
D-NH (49-3) won 25-12, 25-15, 25-6. The Wolverines will play second-seeded Western Christian, two-time defending champion in 2A, at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. D-NH will be going for its fifth 2A title and a 13th title in the history of the program.
 
The Wolverines have yet to truly be challenged in the state tournament, as Amber Rickert, Baylee Petersen and Morgan Weber all slammed down 11 kills and Carlee Dove contributed 10 kills for a team that attacked at an incredible .531 clip, keeping the Saintes on their heels from the first serve.
 
Rickert continued her strong performance thus far in the tournament with stout play at the net, with a hand in five of D-NH's six team blocks on Thursday.
 
University of Texas commit Sydney Petersen anchored the Wolverine defense with 14 digs, with Allie Aalderks contributing eight digs and University of Northern Iowa commit Baylee Petersen bringing up six digs.
