AMES – Morgan Weber had to be ready to do what she knew she was capable of.

The defending individual champion in Class 2A girls golf trailed Allison Nuss of New Hampton by a couple of strokes heading into the final day of competition, but the Dike-New Hartford junior said she wasn't letting herself get too high or too low.

"I had to stay level-headed," Weber said. "Don't get too cocky, don't get too nervous."

She admitted it was much easier for her to relax knowing that her teammates were with her on the course this time around.

Weber went into the clubhouse at 3-over par for the tournament and a 36-hole total of 147, beating out Nuss by a single stroke for a second-consecutive state individual championship.

The D-NH girls finished fifth as a team, shaving 21 strokes off their first-round total for a 739 total. New Hampton ran away with the team title shooting a 662, 59 strokes better than runner-up Okoboji.
