DIKE - As the new Dike Fire Station nears completion, the Dike Fire Department is busy putting the finishing touches on the interior of the new facility. Earlier this week, the department got a boost when The Mill Convenience Store in Holland awarded them a $1,000 donation.

According to Dike Fire Chief Marv Geiken, the money will be used to help put the finishing touches on the interior of the new fire station, which is located at the northwest edge of town.

The 13,000 sq. ft. super steel structure will be unveiled during a public open house during Watermelon Days.
Larry Huisman, Manager of The Mill, says the business strives to regularly give back to the community and support non-profits that are working to make the county a better place to live.

“We try to support a lot of community projects, especially non-profits and local fire departments because funding can be scarce a lot of times,” Huisman said. “There are a lot of different organizations that could use some help, so it’s nice we can give back and help the community.”
