GRUNDY CENTER – Around 30 dogs, big and small, came to enjoy a day of fun at the pool during the first annual ‘Doggie Dip’ fundraiser at the Grundy Center Aquatic Center.
The event, sponsored by Abels Funeral Home, managed to raise nearly $300 for renovations at the pool.
Rebecca Camp, managing funeral director at Abels Funeral Home, said the first ever ‘Doggie Dip’ was a success, and they hope to make it a yearly event.
"We have been trying to put this event on for years, so a big thank you to Heather Stumberg, our mayor Brian Burrow and Dan Bangasser for making this event possible,” Camp said. “Our funeral home staff is always trying to give back to our communities and we thought this would be a great event! We plan on making this an annual outing so we hope to see more families and pets next year!"
The money raised will go to make repairs at the Grundy Aquatic Center, including repairs on umbrellas, the lily pad feature and the children’s play feature.
