WATERLOO – Paige Eiffler already intended to attend Hawkeye Community College.

As the school expands its athletic options, the former Gladbrook-Reinbeck volleyball standout also has a chance to continue playing at the college level.

Eiffler signed with the RedTails' women's volleyball team earlier this year. HCC's first regular-season game in the program's history will be Aug. 22 in Waterloo against John Wood Community College of Quincy, Illinois.

In her senior season with the Rebels, Eiffler averaged 2.09 kills per set with a team-leading 41 ace serves and added 1.49 digs per set. Eiffler was named to the first team of the All-NICL West teams and G-R finished the season 23-10 overall.

"I thought about playing volleyball after college, but I knew that school came first," Eiffler said. She's in a transfer program through Hawkeye where she plans on pursuing an elementary education degree at the University of Northern Iowa.

When she learned that Hawkeye was starting to recruit for the inaugural 2018 season, she asked if RedTails head coach Scott Weston could come to her orientation day, and the conversations from there eventually solidified her decision to go into the volleyball program.
