Elisabeth Heiltje Noteboom
Elisabeth “Bep” Heiltje Punt Noteboom was born July 8, 1933, to Corstiaan and Elisabeth de Lint Punt in Zevenbergen, Netherlands. Before coming to the United States in 1957 Bep majored in Home Economics at Boeimeer in Breda, Netherlands.
She married John Noteboom on May 3, 1957, at the Hudson farm home of Bill and Corrie Droppert and got their certificate of naturalization on May 7, 1968, to become a U.S. Citizen of which they were so proud.
Bep and John farmed in Orange Township since 1959. John passed away in 2003 and was always the love of her life. With hard work, John and Bep made a good life for themselves in the United States. Bep worked alongside John, whether in the field or the feedlot and raising four children. Although she did some sewing and hand crafts, she would rather be planting her garden, riding their horses, or just working outside. She was an outdoors person. As her four children grew, Bep kept busy with school, church, sports, and 4-H and this is something that she continued today with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bep loved attending the county fair watching the grandchildren show horses, cattle, and hogs and taking many trips to junior high, high school, and college rodeos along with watching all the other sports the grandchildren were involved with. She was active with Sunshine Club, Black Hawk Creek Saddle Club, and the Black Hawk County Porkettes and was a long-term member of the Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church in Grundy Center.
She is survived by her three sons, John Noteboom of Eudora, Kansas, Ed and Brenda Noteboom of Reinbeck, Bill and Wanda Noteboom of Grundy Center and daughter Betty and Brian Ellis of Dows; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; her sister Riet Oosthoek of the Netherlands; sister-in-law Betty (Kenneth) Schrader of Red Wing, Minnesota; and many other family members in the Netherlands.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Noteboom, parents Corstiaan and Elisabeth Punt, three brothers Cors, Wim, and Mees Punt of the Netherlands.
Funeral services for Bep will be Friday, Dec. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Community Church of Hudson, with burial to follow at Orange Township Cemetery. A visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Locke on 4th, 1519 West Fourth Street, Waterloo.
