MARSHALLTOWN – Aubrie Fisher pushed herself against strong competition from a predominantly large-school field at the Bobcat Invite on the Marshalltown Community College campus last Thursday.

Her familiarity with the course and her hard work paid off with an eighth-place overall finish in 19 minutes, 28 seconds, helping to boost Iowa Falls-Alden/AGWSR to an 11th-place team finish with a 305 team score.

Ellie Meyer was 48th in 20:39, Haley Bakker 74th in 22:04, Sarah Faith Carson 88th in 23:15 and Katie Meyer was 90th in 23:21 to round out the Cadets' top five.

Fisher was 28 seconds off meet winner Hannah Brown of Dubuque Hempstead. West Des Moines Dowling won the team title with 67 points. Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck placed 12th with a 380 score, followed by Dike-New Hartford in 13th with 430 and BCLUW rounding out the area teams with an 18th place finish and a 553 team score.

In her junior season, Fisher is not far off from her personal best set at last season's state cross country meet, where she finished 11th in 19:24.

"I ran a lot over the summer and got into better shape for this season," Fisher said. "It mostly just helped that I've had a lot of experience running (Marshalltown) for the past two years, I knew what I was getting into and who I'd be running against.
