Gary Del Mugge

 BEAMAN — Gary Del Mugge, 79, of Beaman passed away Nov. 17, 2024. 

   A private family service and spreading of ashes will be held at a later date.

   Gary Mugge was born May 20, 1945 in Cherokee to Delbert and Marjoie Mugge.  Gary graduated from Beaman Conrad Liscomb High School in 1964 then attended the State College of Iowa in Cedar Falls before he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1966. Gary earned a National Defense Service Medal and a Rifle Sharpshooter badge. Gary proudly served his country and was honorably discharged in 1972.

   Gary worked briefly at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown while farming and raising Angus cattle on a farm outside Beaman. On Nov. 4, 1967, Gary married Linda Ann Lynch and they had two daughters. Gary and Linda enjoyed working side by side on the farm and raising their kids, raising and breeding Angus cattle and taking family vacations to Lake Okoboji.

   Gary was also a lay minister and would often preach in several community churches until Linda’s death in 2011. Gary stayed on the family farm until 2023, when he moved to Prairie Hills, an assisted living residence in Independence. While in assisted living, Gary enjoyed spending time with family, watching football, taking walks to the nearby pond to check on the geese and always teasing the staff.

   Survivors include daughters Stacy Mugge of Loveland, Colorado and Shelley (Randy) Schafer of Independence, brother Steve Mugge of Gladbrook, sisters-in-law Kathy Elliot of Boone and Connie (Keith) Schleisman of Cuba City, Wisconsin; as well as nieces and nephews.

   Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Linda Mugge, parents Delbert and Marjorie Mugge, in-laws Richard and Betty Lynch and sister-in-law Bonnie Mugge.

   Memorials may be directed to The Alzheimer's Association or Cedar Valley Hospice.
