GC/G-R boys 2nd in Eldora (PHOTOS)

ELDORA – The Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys cross country team finished second in the team standings at the Pine Lake Invitational at Pine Lake Country Club in Eldora on Thursday, Sept. 6.
  
GC/G-R scored 63 points, finishing 19 points behind team champion South Hardin, which was led by the winning time of 18:14 from Kolby Winter. BCLUW ran 5th with 142 points and Dike-New Hartford was ninth with 220 points.
  
Kenny Day finished third in 18:49 to lead GC/G-R. Sam Schildroth placed fifth in 19:17 and Paul Brockett earned ninth in 19:33. Soren Cleveland was 16th in 20:10 and Ethan Sadler was the final scoring GC/G-R runner, 30th in 20:59.
 
BCLUW's Ruben Montoya and Henry Kaisand were top-10 finishers on Thursday. Montoya placed eighth in 19:32 and Kaisand ranked 10th in 19:39. Treye Teske ended in 20:13 for 18th place.
   
GC/G-R's Taylor Stahl was the lone area girls competitor to place in the top 10 individuals on Thursday. She completed the course in 22:13 for fifth place. GC/G-R finished eighth as a team, one spot behind Dike-New Hartford.
   
Alexis Jensen led the Wolverines in 18th in 23:54. Zoie Callan was 28th in 24:44; Sierra Loger closed out the race 31st in 24:59 ad Jadyn Bennett was 32nd in 25:05. Ella Costello was the final D-NH scorer, 40th in 26:20. D-NH standout Taylor Kvale withdrew from the race due to a nagging calf injury stemming from the first race of the season at Charles City.
