GC/G-R cross country competes at Lynx Invite

TROY MILLS – The Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys cross country team finished sixth in a huge field at North Linn High School's Lynx Invitational on Saturday.

GC/G-R scored 181 points to finish between Maquoketa Valley (166) and Hudson (200) in the standings.

Kenny Day was the top boys finisher in 14th in 17:01. The rest of the scoring five were Soren Cleveland (31st, 17:43); Brennen Sager (34th, 17:52); Paul Brockett (37th, 18:04) and Sam Bingman (65th, 19:04). Kaden Lynch (77th, 19:33) and Jeryn Spear (88th, 20:00) rounded out the varsity seven.

Tipton's Caleb Shumaker was the individual champion in 15:44. Solon scored 45 points as team champions.

The GC/G-R girls were shorthanded on Saturday, with only five running varsity, and the girls finished 12th in the team standings as a result. Bella Dole led the way in 67th in 24:00. Olivia Patrick (71st, 24:58); Libby Ross (74th, 25:56); Jessica Saak (78th, 28:21) and Jasmine Kanagy (79th, 31:31) were the other varsity runners for GC/G-R.
