GC/G-R's Sager wins division of Go-Hawk Invite

WAVERLY – Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck cross country participated in the Dick Pollitt Go-Hawk Invite at Wartburg Max Cross Country Course in Waverly on Tuesday.

The meet has a unique format, running races separated into 9th-10th and 11th-12th starting grids and dividing the competitors further into "A" and "B" groups.

GC/G-R sophomore Brennen Sager won the 9th/10th "B" boys race in 18:52 and finished eighth overall among all 9th-10th graders competing. Teammate Jeryn Spear was sixth in 19:44 in the "B" race and Kaden Lynch was 18th in 21:04.

In the upperclassmen "B" race, Kenny Day was eighth in 18:08. Soren Cleveland was 22nd in 18:53 and Paul Brockett ran 39th in 19:55. Day was 14th overall in the combined "A" and "B" groups. Center Point-Urbana's Eli Larson won the "B" race in 16:56.

Taylor Stahl led the GC/G-R girls in the 11th/12th "B" race with an eighth-place time of 21:56, good for 16th overall. Bella Dole was 34th in 25:16 and Paiton Wallis claimed 48th in 26:09. Western Dubuque's Lauren Klein won in 20:16.

In the underclassmen "B" girls race, Olivia Patrick was 49th in 27:10 and Abbie Lindeman was 59th in 29:04.
