GCMH Emergency Department named one of top three in nation

GRUNDY CENTER — As a critical access hospital, Grundy County Memorial Hospital (GCMH) serves as a first line of emergency services for area residents. Tuesday the hospital’s work in that area was recognized on a national basis.
The GCMH Emergency Department was honored with a Beacon of Excellence Award at Tuesday’s Press Ganey National Client Conference in Orlando, Fla., recognizing it as one of the top three emergency departments in the nation based on patient satisfaction.
“To be in the top three hospitals in the emergency department in the United States is amazing and I’m very proud of every person who works in my department,”  GCMH inpatient and emergency room manager JoDee Knox said. “It’s not one person, it’s everyone. It takes everyone to make all these people happy and to deliver great quality care.”
“Being recognized in the top three in the country is an outstanding achievement,” Hospital president and CEO Brian Kellar added. “It demonstrates that we’re doing just what is intended for critical access hospitals — capably administering emergency care and saving lives while maintaining the highest standards for delivering care,” he said.
The award being presented to the local hospital is selected from more than 1,600 hospitals nationwide that utilize Press Ganey to measure patient satisfaction. It cites health care organizations that have been recognized for excellence in multiple years. Hospitals in all 50 states are eligible for the award.
