GCPD welcomes two new officers

GRUNDY CENTER – Recently, the Grundy Center Police Department welcomed two new officers to the force – Officer Alissa Loew and Officer Justin Fox.
Both Loew and Fox have been with the department for a number of months now, but have recently completed their training at the Law Enforcement Academy and are now certified Grundy Center Police Department officers.
Loew, who is originally from Indianola, started working in Grundy Center back in October of last year. Before taking the job in Grundy Center, Loew was a community service officer in Cedar Falls for three and a half years.
Coming from Cedar Falls, Loew said working in a small town will be a nice change.
“In a big town, you don’t get the chance to get out and talk to the community, which is something I really enjoy doing here,” she said.
Fox, who also worked in Cedar Falls as a reserve officer prior to being hired in Grundy Center, said that he likes small town policing better as well. He said that when he worked in Cedar Falls, people didn’t like to see the police because it meant they were going to get a ticket, but here in Grundy, people wave at him and stop to talk to him.
