Go, Fight, Win! Grundy Center kicks off Homecoming Week

GRUNDY CENTER - The Spartans kicked off Homecoming Week on Sunday with an afternoon full of fun and festivities for the whole community.
 
Students gathered for the annual parade, which brought them to the courthouse lawn, where the community then joined staff and students for a pep rally, as well as the court announcement.
 
This year’s Grundy Center High School Homecoming Court includes: Brooke Flater, Sarah Lindeman, Cora Saak, Hailey Wallis and Reegan Zinkula as Queen Candidates, and Tanner Appel, Austin Knaack,Travis Kuester, Caleb Kuiper and Matthew Sternhagen as King Candidates.
 
The coronation ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, at the High School Gym.
 
Other events throughout the week include several “Spirit Days” where students can dress in costume. Monday was Hippie Day; Tuesday was Superhero Day; Wednesday is Pajama Day; Thursday is Class Color Day; and Friday is Spartan Spirit Day.
 
Throughout the day on Friday, there will be lip sync battles, powderpuff football and other festivities around the school. All of this leads up to the big game starting at 7 p.m. on Friday night, where the Grundy Center Spartans will face off against the Mason City Newman Knights. Afterwards, Spartans will celebrate with the annual Homecoming Dance at the High School Commons on Friday night starting at 9 p.m.
