Gordon named Felix Grundy Grand Marshal

GRUNDY CENTER – Local resident Bruce Gordon has a long history of involvement with the Felix Grundy Festival. More than thirty years ago, he was a member of the committee that first started the festival, and he’s continued his involvement in one form or another ever since.

But this year, the festival will be a particularly special one for Gordon, who has been chosen to lead the festivities as the 2019 Felix Grundy Grand Marshal.

Mindy Greany, chair of the Felix Committee, said the group chose Gordon because of his role in helping the Felix Grundy Festival get started all those years ago, and his commitment to the community through his years of teaching as an art instructor, as well as his volunteerism on the many boards he sits on in town.

“We chose to nominate Bruce because he’s had a long history with Felix Grundy Festival,” Greany said. “He’s also impacted a lot of people in the community through his years of teaching art at the school, and by being involved in a lot of different stuff in the community. We just felt like he would be a good person to represent our town this year.”

Bruce and his wife Carol moved to town in the 1960s, and Bruce taught art at the Grundy Center junior and senior high schools until his retirement in 1998.
