Chuck Grassley and Donald Trump agree on a lot, but on one topic near and dear to the Senator’s heart, he and the President are miles apart.

Grassley, who is known as the father of the federal wind energy tax credit, took umbrage with Trump’s recent claim that wind turbines cause cancer, and in an interview with The Grundy Register after a meeting in Wellsburg on Tuesday morning, he offered up his thoughts on a variety of topics including wind, the Mueller report, defense spending and traveling with a security detail.

“I’ve kind of watched how (Trump) has presented his views on wind energy, and he’s always off the cuff, talking about it and making fun of it. I don’t know if he’s really against it,” Grassley said. “But to answer your question, I’d say ‘Talk to Chuck Grassley.’ I’ll educate him about it.”

He went on to tout the environmental and economic benefits of wind energy in Iowa during a visit to an area known for a pair of controversial developments—one just south of Wellsburg and one at Ivester. As a state, Iowa now generates nearly 40 percent of its electricity through wind.
