Grundy Center girls powerful in pink

GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy Center girls basketball team took advantage of 28 Gladbrook-Reinbeck turnovers in a 58-19 Spartan victory at Grundy Center High School for the teams’ “Coaches vs. Cancer” game.

Paiton Wallis scored 11 points with four rebounds and three assists. Lainy Thoren added 10 points with seven rebounds and four steals and Ellery Luhring and Carlie Willis came off the bench to score eight points each.

Grundy led 31-13 at halftime; the Spartans have now won five consecutive games.

Katie Clark had four points to lead the Rebels, Lauren Boyer, Megan Cooley and Karlie Rickert all had three points each.

BCLUW 46, SOUTH HARDIN 34: Allison Engle and Chloe Walters scored 14 points each for the Comets. Engle added seven rebounds, four assists and three steals and Walters contributed seven rebounds and two blocked shots. BCLUW outscored South Hardin 33-17 through the first three quarters. The Comets also outrebounded the Tigers, 33-23.
