Grundy Center girls subdue Mustangs

LE GRAND – The Grundy Center girls basketball team smacked East Marshall, 70-37, at East Marshall High School last Tuesday, Jan. 18.

Grundy Center senior Lainy Thoren scored 20 points to lead all scorers and grabbed eight rebounds with four assists. Dahlia Gardiner added 11 points and Paiton Wallis had five points with eight rebounds and six assists. Ellery Luhring came off the bench with nine points and Carlie Willis added eight points after subbing in.

DIKE-NEW HARTFORD 49, DENVER 39: Ellary Knock and Payton Petersen each recorded double-doubles in the Wolverines’ 49-39 win against the Cyclones in Dike on Tuesday, Jan. 18, a battle of the top two teams in Class 2A.

Knock scored 11 points with 10 rebounds and Petersen scored 11 points with 12 rebounds. The Wolverines used a 17-7 third quarter to get some distance on the Cyclones.

D-NH 49, Denver 39. D-NH scoring: Ellary Knock 11, Payton Petersen 11, Sophia Hoffmann 8, Jadyn Petersen 8, Camille Landphair 6, Maryn Bixby 5, Taylor Kvale 0.

AGWSR 33, UNION 29: Grace Finger scored 17 points and the Cougars nudged past the Knights in La Porte City. Finger added six rebounds. Brynn Smith had five points and five steals and Trevyn Smith scored seven points with four steals.
